Supply, Delivery & Installation of Furniture
for 500 Schools in Northern Province under Special Development Program

1. The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the investment of Education for Knowledge Society Project (EKSP).  This invitation for Bids follows the specific notice that appeared in the Ministry of Education Website www.eksp.sch.lk

2. The Secretary, Ministry of Education (MoE) now invites sealed Bids (valid for 120 days from the date of Bid Opening) from eligible Bidders from Member Countries of ADB for the Supply, Delivery & Installation of Furniture for 500 Schools in Northern Province under Special Development Program.

3. National Competitive Bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB’s Single Stage: One –Envelope bidding procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible source countries.

4. Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information form the Project Director/EKSP Ministry of Education and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below.

5. The Bidding Documents, in the English Language, can be obtained upon written application to the Project Management Office (PMO), Education for Knowledge Society Project (EKSP), Ministry of Education, 5th   Floor, “Isurupaya”, Battaramulla, Sri Lanka on any working day between 0900 hours and 1500 hours on payment of a non-refundable tender fee of Rs. 1000/- in cash.  Bid documents will be issued till 1400 hours on 6th May 2010

6. Bids must be delivered to the address given in para 4, not later than 1400 hours on 7th May 2010  All bids should be accompanied by a bid security (Valid for 150 days for the date of Bid Opening) to the value of 2% of the total bid price (Excluding VAT) of the package.  Tender caption must be indicated on the top left hand corner of the envelope.  Bids will be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of the Bidder’s representatives who choose to attend address given in para 4.  Late Bids shall be rejected.    Electronic bidding is not allowed.

7. Ministry of Education will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.
